Weird Records: 8,146 Dishes
On 27 January 2011, in Baibuting Community, Wuhan City, Hubei, China-a new Guinness World Records™ record was set for the most different dishes on display at multiple venues, with 8,146 dishes setting the record.
The event was organized by the Administration Committee of Baibuting Community. It took place on the occasion of the large New Year Banquet of Baibuting Community. 27 January 2011 was Xiaonian(24th of the 12th month of the lunar year when sacrifices are made to the kitchen god ) in the south of China, and was the day for Baituting Community to hold the annual New Year Banquet of the Community. This is the 11th year for the Baibuting Community Banquet, which is held annually since 2000. The attempt took place in 10 different locations in Baibuting Community. The dishes were cooked by the residents in the community. As requested in the guidelines, each dish had to be distinct in at least one main ingredient. Out of a total number of 8,727 dishes verified by the Public Notary, 581 dishes were disqualified due to repeated occurrence of the same main ingredient in different dishes or because the list of ingredients had not been submitted, thus leaving “only” 8,146 dishes to set the Guinness World Records achievement.
